TriggerLinc is First Insteon-Compatible Door/Window Sensor
RF sensor can also be used to "Insteon-enable" any contact-closure device via on-board terminals

To turn a hardwired device into an Insteon-compatible RF trigger, simply wire it to the onboard terminals, shown at the bottom, just left of the battery.

11.22.2008 — SmartLabs has introduced the first Insteon-compatible wireless door/window sensor, the TriggerLinc.

The magnetic contact closure can trigger Insteon-compatible lights and appliances to turn on and off when a door is opened and closed, or it can launch macros through Insteon-compatible controllers such as SmartLabs' HouseLinc automation system.

Insteon technology, developed by SmartLabs, is a low-cost, low-rate protocol primarily for home automation applications. It is the only one of the prevailing home-control protocols (Z-Wave, Zigbee, Universal Powerline Bus) that is available for both RF and powerline implementations.

TriggerLinc communicates over RF.

Instead of using TriggerLinc as a door or window sensor, installers can hardwire it to virtually any sensor or relay of their choice – such as a doorbell – to essentially "Insteon-enable" any device with a contact closure output.

External sensor terminals are built into TriggerLinc for this purpose.

The product runs on a single AA battery.

TriggerLinc ($35), expected to ship Jan. 15, is available for preorder.
