Transport Pod Waterbed Features Integrated Audio System, LED Lighting
Move over Orgasmatron, the Transport Perceptual Pod waterbed has full audio and LED lighting.
Captain James T. Kirk would look natural with a green alien chick in one of these.
It's a new waterbed designed for "meditation and relaxation" called the Transport from Alberto Frias LLC, a Las Vegas-based art and furniture design studio. The partially enclosed bed includes an integrated audio system and LED lighting, and has the ability to integrate with an iPod.
I don't think I've seen anything this sci-fi looking in the CE industry in a few years. Frias says he designed the Transport following years of research in perceptual psychology and optical illusions.
It features Anthony Gallo Acoustics' 4-inch Nucleus Micro speakers, as well as the company's 240-watt MPS subwoofer.
"As a graduate student working on my master's thesis in architecture, I focused my research on light, sound and space," states Frias.
"I became fascinated with the trance-like effect one gets from meditating upon the crashing ocean waves or when staring at the clear blue sky. I then became determined to create an environment that would recall that heightened state of awareness."
The Transport, which allows users to lie (the original press release said "lay" not "lie") on a temperature-controlled waterbed surface, can be integrated with a home stereo, computer or iPod and can be remote controlled.
The LED lighting system can be personalized with different lighting effects.
Architecturally, the Transport is "a one-of-a-kind piece of functional art," with each unit being handmade and custom-ordered. The Transport is available in two sizes: a 6-foot standard version or a large eight-foot diameter version.
Standard exterior colors are white or black high gloss gel coat finish. The Transport can be experienced and ordered at Twentieth, a modern furnishings and design store in Beverly Hills.
This bed ought to gain quite a following with rock stars or swingers. There might even be some geeks out there who can use this bed to work some magic with the ladies.
In fact, where was this when I was 20?
(No word on whether or not your bedside shotgun rack will fit on this.)
