I’m just PRAYING that we won’t see more commercials.
I can just picture it: If you’re receiving this announcements, that means you have survived the DTV transition. Congratulations….
LOL! It’s like election time.
Win or lose, at least everyone (except TV stations) are glad it’s over.
Our area stayed with the Feb. date and nothing happened except one ch had to switch a little earlier than planned…Non-Event.
The Digital TV Transition, America’s switch from analog to digital TV broadcasting, is nearing completion. Compared to analog broadcasts, digital broadcasts provide a sharper picture and more programming options. They will also free up parts of the valuable broadcast spectrum for public safety communications (such as those of police, fire departments, and rescue squads).
According to statistics, around 85% of us subscribe to cable or satellite TV, as such, our service will be unaffected. However, there are roughly 15-20 million people in America, many of whom are elderly or those living on a limited income that rely on local over-the-air broadcasts received via antenna. As uneventful as y2k.
There’s been HDTV over air for a while now. I know very few people who have cancelled their subscriptions to anything.
Yeah, we would all cancel our cable if we could get all those channels for free, but most people change their minds when they realize that they can’t get espn and bravo or something over the air. Then there’s the issue of good DVR’s with guides. Most people will stick with what they know.
Lastly, I think the type of people who aren’t aware of this wouldn’t know a CE Pro from a tree.
Good luck everyone!
