StarTech Wireless HD Extender Transmits Video up to 100 Feet
The MSRP for the Wireless HD Extender Kit from StarTech is $330 and it comes with transmitter and receiver units to form a complete solution.
The latest solution to hit the market that provides homeowners and business owners the ability to own a state-of-the-art or A/V system that doesn’t use long HDMI cabling runs is the new Wireless HD Extender Kit from StarTech. The Midwestern-based manufacturer says the kit employs the Wireless High Definition Interface (WHDI) standard which operates on the unlicensed 5GHz spectrum.
“We are excited to bring the Wireless HD Extender Kit to market as it is able to deliver 1080p video with the same performance as a direct cable connections,” boats John Mardinly, senior product manager, audio-video products, for StarTech.com. “WHDI is a standard that works well to deliver wireless high definition content which is great for environments like boardrooms, classrooms [and other rooms] where typical cabling creates clutter. Wireless HDMI is also an ideal solution for digital signage or retail POS applications where cables may get in the way of shoppers.”
StarTech says the system includes a transmitter and receiver, and it doesn’t require any drivers or other type of software support. The company also points out the system is able to transmit 1080p signals with 7.1 digital audio distances up to 100 feet (30 meters).
