SpectraCal Portable Test Pattern Generator Produces 4K Content
SpectraCal is pricing the VideoForge 4K at $4,995 and the VideoForge SDI at $3,995, and for a limited time the company is offering special pricing on the products.
This year’s dominate technology was the introduction of 4K video displays and now the rest of the electronics industry is responding to support the influx of new 4K video products that are scheduled to hit the market in 2013. One of the first non-TV manufacturing companies to respond to the impending 4K revolution is the test equipment manufacturer SpectraCal.
Just after the end of CES SpectraCal announced two new test pattern generators: the VideoForge 4K and the VideoForge SDI. The VideoForge 4K is said to output all of the current 4K formats via Qual-Link SDI, and the company says the unit also supports lower resolution formats via Dual-Link SDI, Single-Link SDI and HDMI. The lower cost VideoForge SDI model produces 2K and lower resolutions via the SDI and HDMI formats. SpectraCal explains the two new products offer 16 internal parameter-based software pattern renderers that enable the creation of thousands of pattern variations.
SpectraCal adds the new test-pattern generators are capable of producing any one of the billion possibilities of colors inside a display’s color space, and according to the company, every pattern in the VideoForge products can be delivered in 3D, including the left-eye/right-eye gating function that visually tests stereo imaging separation to allow calibrators to test the performance of 3D video displays.
