09.23.2008 — Sony has introduced three new BRAVIA Link modules — the Wireless Link, DVD Link and Input Link.

The modules attach to the back of compatible BRAVIA HDTVs and integrate into the TV's menu.

"Now you can customize compatible flat-panel BRAVIA HDTV sets with great features without reconfiguring your entire home theater set up," says Jeff Goldstein, VP of marketing for Sony's consumer television group.

Wireless Link Module

The Wireless Link Module (DMX-WL1) is a two-piece system that wirelessly transmits HD video (up to 1080i) and audio to compatible BRAVIA TVs.

It connects to up to five HD sources (four HDMI, one component) and transmits content up to 65 feet. The Wireless Link Module is controlled via the included remote control.

MSRP: $800 (available in October)

DVD Link Module

The DVD Link Module (DMX-DVD) upscales DVDs to 1080p resolution on BRAVIA HDTVs.

It integrates into the menu via HDMI and is controlled with a single remote control. The DVD Link is now available for $200.

Input Link Module

Sony's Input Link Module (DMX-SW1) expands connectivity by adding an additional four HDMI inputs to compatible BRAVIA HDTVs.

The Input Link Module is shipping now for $150.

So the DMX-DVD will make all the 3000 and newer TV’s integrated DVD players. Not bad, but would sell better at $100. Even nicer if it was a Blu-Ray player.
