Sony Details 3D TVs, Blu-ray Players
3D Bravia TVs available for pre-order; 3D Blu-ray Players will arrive in July.
Sony’s XBR-LX900 Series 3D TVs come with a built-in 3D sync transmitter and two pair of active shutter glasses. The TVs come in 60- (about $5,000) and 52-inch (about $4,000) models.
Sony has released it summer 3D plans, announcing that 3D Bravia TVs are available for pre-order at Sony Style stores and 3D Blu-ray players will arrive in July.

3D TVs: Sony's 3D TVs will include the XBR-LX900 Series, XBR-HX909 Series, and KDL-HX800 Series. Purchases of Bravia 3D TVs come with "Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs" on 3D Blu-ray, as well as vouchers for 3D games on the PS3.
The XBR-LX900 TVs come with a built-in 3D sync transmitter and two pair of active shutter glasses. The TVs come in 60- ($5,000) and 52-inch ($4,000) models. Other features of the XBR-LX900 TVs include LED backlight, integrated WiFi (802.11n), the Bravia Internet Video Platform, Bravia Internet Widgets, and Sony's new Qriocity premium video service.
The flagship XBR-HX909 Series includes 3D-ready TVs that require active shutter glasses ($150/pair) and a 3D sync transmitter ($50), which are sold separately, for 3D playback. Features include LED backlight with local dimming and RS-232C inputs.
Sony's KDL-HX800 Series is similar to the XBR-HX909 line, requiring consumers to also purchase active shutter glasses and the 3D sync transmitter for 3D playback. Features include LED backlight with local dimming. The series includes 55- ($3,400), 46- ($2,700) and 40-inch models ($2,100).
3D Blu-ray Players: Sony will release its BDP-S770 3D Blu-ray Player ($300) in July with built-in WiFi (802.11n). Sony also released a firmware update activating 3D playback on its BDP-S470 and BDP-S570 Blu-ray Players.
3D Blu-ray Theater Systems: Sony will also release the BDV-HZ970W 1080p 3D Home Theater System in July ($800). The 5.1-channel system has wireless via the included USB wireless LAN adapter (802.11n), two HDMI inputs, and a universal remote.
Sony also released a firmware update adding 3D playback and DLNA compatibility to its BDV-E570 and BDV-E770W Blu-ray theater systems.
