The Sonos Controller, compatible with all generations of Sonos hardware, uses the home's Wi-Fi network to communicate with the Sonos Multi-Room Music System.
It requires the following to operate:
- iPhone or iPod touch
- At least one Sonos ZonePlayer
- Sonos 2.7 System Software
- iPhone 2.0 Software

Sonos is calling 2008 "the year of the iPhone." Who could disagree? It seems like every company is releasing an
iPhone application, and it certainly was a hot topic at
CEDIA Expo 2008.
"The Sonos Controller for iPhone is another example of Sonos offering features and applications that make the system better, at no cost to our current or future customers," says John MacFarlane, CEO, Sonos.
Available in English only, the Sonos Controller has access to music from Last.fm, Napster, Pandora, Rhapsody, Sirius Internet Radio and more than 15,000 radio stations.
The added music support comes from the new
Sonos System Software 2.7 the company also released. It delivers the music free of charge with updated Rhapsody support for improved sound quality.
System Software 2.7 also includes language support for Dutch and Swedish, on top of English, French, German, Italian and Spanish.
The software update is available to
download for free for all Sonos customers.
