Sharp Offers Baseball-Themed Promotions During MLB Postseason

Company holding national sweepstakes during postseason and 2008 World Series.


MAHWAH, N.J. — Sharp Electronics Corporation, whose AQUOS brand is the official HDTV of Major League Baseball, is rounding the bases at full speed with a complete lineup of MLB-themed promotions and fan activities for this exciting final month of the 2008 Major League Baseball season. Sharp, which last year became the official HDTV of MLB, is in the midst of the largest integrated sports marketing effort in the company's history, which launched during the 2008 All-Star Game in New York City.

The brand marked its second year as an MLB partner with a national sweepstakes promotion, retail blitz and multiple live activations in and around MLB, leading to the Postseason and 2008 World Series. Since last year, Sharp has expanded its efforts in integrating MLB into its core marketing strategy and signed on a roster of MLB athletes to represent the AQUOS brand in the marketplace.

The Sharp AQUOS Instant Replay Roadshow


Sharp's national in-stadium effort, dubbed the "Sharp AQUOS Instant Replay Roadshow," will be staged at every MLB Postseason game as well as the MLB World Series. The interactive fan display and game debuted at the 2008 All-Star Game and allows fans at ballparks to become the umpire for some close and sometimes controversial calls using a crystal clear Sharp AQUOS LCD TV. The branded concourse attractions show how Sharp AQUOS HDTVs allow fans, and MLB umpires, to see the action on the field with true HD clarity. Sharp AQUOS TVs are used exclusively by Major League Baseball for instant replay use on challenged home run calls.

Sharp AQUOS Experience Mobile Tour


Also hitting the road through the MLB Postseason is the AQUOS Experience, the traveling mobile tour contained in a 53' double-expanded trailer that transforms into an interactive showcase displaying the full capabilities and features of the AQUOS line as well as video gaming stations, HD MLB footage and MLB memorabilia. The AQUOS Experience began its 2008 MLB Postseason tour at Angel Stadium in Anaheim , Calif., and will make other stops at MLB ballparks all the way through the World Series.

Sharp presents Hank Aaron Award, Sweepstakes Grand Prize Winners


During the World Series, Sharp will have a significant presence with the Sharp presents Hank Aaron Award to the top offensive player in each league, as voted by the fans at mlb.com. The award will be presented in part by the grand prize winner of Sharp's Winning Lineup sweepstakes promotion, which commenced during the All-Star Game. Other prizes include a number of Sharp AQUOS HDTVs which could be "delivered" by one of Sharp's 11 signed MLB athletes – a roster that includes Hank Blalock, Prince Fielder, Carlos Gomez, Matt Holliday, Andruw Jones, John Maine, David Ortiz, Hanley Ramirez, Mariano Rivera, Johnathan Sanchez, and Ryan Theriot. These 11 Sharp-signed athletes are making special appearances at retail locations where Sharp AQUOS HDTVs are sold in their respective markets.
