Sencore's SP-495 SoundPro acoustic/sound analyzer, dubbed "The Audio Consultant," gives you all the tools you need to optimize your client's home theater audio.

With the implementation of a powerful DSP engine, it is a high resolution, highly accurate precision toolbox.

Features of the SP-495 include:
  • precision 24-bit A/D and D/A converters
  • internal 64-bit processing
  • fully balanced, low noise, high-resolution input and output amplifier gain stages
The result is precision measurements for accurate audio/acoustic analysis. All functions, filters, and processing are implemented in DSP firmware algorithms.

As each function is selected, loaded into internal memory and executed, the analyzer takes on a completely new personality. Over 25 different test functions are available.

In its simplest form, the SP-495 is a 1/3 octave real-time analyzer that will let you to walk around and see what's happening in the room.

30 Functions Highlight Acoustic Analysis Tool

The SP-495 is also a signal generator that will enable you to drive your client's system with pink noise (equal energy per octave), pure tones or anything else you would like.

Once you can "see" the problem(s), if you elect to treat them, the SP-495 has 30 different personalities representing different analysis tools to let you troubleshoot efficiently.

Some common ones are:
  • FFT precision sound analysis
  • an Energy Time Graph mode
  • Early Decay time measurement
  • near-field speaker EQ
  • a phase meter
  • a distortion meter
  • an Audio Scope
  • speaker polarity detection
  • an impedance sweep function
  • a cable tester
  • and, of course, a simply SPL meter
Many of these functions are optional to the SoundCore module, so there is no need to buy more capability than you need. It also makes it financially sensible to upgrade later when more functionality is needed.

The logical layering of the menus begins with the highest level, which lets you select the flavor of measurement you want to start with. The choices are: SPL, Acoustics, TDA (time delay analysis), Noise Tools, Speaker measurements, Tech Bench and Utility functions.

Digging deeper into the menu tree provides you with every imaginable tool on that menu's topic. The top and bottom tool bars provide access to often-used controls, and the central control knob has a positive feel while navigating the rich menu tree.

The SP-495 is powered by a lithium battery and comes with a line power adaptor/charger and a road-worthy carrying bag. The meter comes with an excellent 124-page manual.
