Homeowners can put a charge into their efforts to reduce oil consumption through the installation of Schneider Electric’s new Electric Residential EV Charging Solution.

A Feb. 17 report from the website Fuelgaugereport.com says the national average price of a gallon of regular unleaded gas has risen approximately 55 cents over the course of one year, and there are experts that say those prices could go up depending upon what happens politically in the Middle East.

Schneider Electric's newly released Electric Residential EV Charging Solution supports consumers' ability to trade in their gas-guzzling SUVs and sports cars for a clean-running and efficient electric car. Schneider says the product is compliant with UL and SAE J1772 regulations to ensure it is compatible with any electric car that's introduced to the market. The charging system also incorporates ground fault and monitoring protection, and a delayed charging option to allow users to delay charging up to eight hours in one-hour increments.

Other features built into in the charging system include a LED display that indicates the charge level of the vehicle and how long the car has been charging, and once installed it resides in a non-metallic enclosure that's wall-mountable.
