Samsung has officially released specs and pricing for the
Duo HD Blu-ray/HD DVD combo player, first announced in April, as well as details on the third-gen BD-P1400 and BD-P2400 Blu-ray players and HT-BD2 Blu-ray home theater system.
The Duo HD player, set to launch in Q4 with a price tag of $1,049, will playback Blu-ray content at 1080p/1080i/720p and 1080p 24Fs/60Fs, HD DVD content at 1080p/1080i/720p and handles both HDi and BD-Java. It features HDMI 1.3 and supports MPEG2, VC-1, H.264 and HD JPEG decoding.
The third-generation Samsung Blu-ray players, the BD-P1400 and BD-P2400, offer HDMI 1.3,
HDMI-CEC control technology and DTS HD and Dolby TrueHD audio options. The BD-P2400, which will ship in October for $649, features an HQV processor for 1080p de-interlacing.
The BD-P1400 will ship in September with a price tag of $549.
The HT-BD2 is a home-theater-in-a-box system featuring a 7.1 channel receiver, speaker system and Blu-ray player with 24fps playback. The HT-BD2 will be available in the fourth quarter for $1,499.
