Russound’s ComPoint Camera Door Station Makes Video Security Inconspicuous
New door station integrates high-quality CCTV for an aesthetically pleasing, easy to install video monitoring solution
09.17.2007 — PRESS RELEASE
DENVER, CO, September 4, 2007 -- Russound, the #1 brand in multiroom audio, today announced a new ComPoint Camera Door Station that conceals a weather-resistant, low-light security camera behind its attractive cosmetics, and integrates video security with a Russound ComPoint communication system. The Camera Door Station lets homeowners conveniently see who's at the door from a television or dedicated monitor anywhere in the house, without subjecting visitors to the intimidating presence of a video camera.
“We all want to know who’s at the door, but getting up to see isn’t always desirable or possible," said Russound Product Manager Roger Soucy. "Russound was one of the first companies to integrate security and intercom with distributed entertainment through our ComPoint system, and the Camera Door Station is a great extension. Now it's easy to add video security monitoring into any installation, without detracting from the home's exterior with an unattractive security camera."
Like its predecessor, the standard Door Station, the new Camera Door Station door brings whole-home doorbell and intercom functions into a standard double-gang work box, with elegant antique brass or brushed chrome finish options. The new model builds on these features with the addition of a low-light camera, hidden inconspicuously behind a smoked, protective pane. Visitors never see the security camera, and an exceptionally wide range of camera adjustment allows clear visitor recognition from either side of the doorway. At .05 Lux of sensitivity, the camera can work in almost total darkness, providing homeowners with effective day or night video monitoring.
For integrators and installers, the Camera Door Station provides an exceptionally convenient solution to sell and deploy. Unlike conventional video security systems that require separate camera placements and additional installation complexity, the Camera Door Station can be flush mounted in a standard double-gang electrical work box and can remain at a standard 48” mounting height while still capturing the face of the visitor. The camera output of the Camera Door Station can be connected to the page video input of Russound's CAV6.6 Multiroom Controller, and it can also interface with third party video security devices by providing a standard NTSC composite video signal.
The ComPoint Camera Door Station works with the entire line of Russound ComPoint products, for a seamless integrated communication solution throughout the home. ComPoint is a complete intercom system that integrates with virtually any multiroom home audio system, and provides zone-to-zone communications, as well as global paging from any keypad. ComPoint's hands-free response automatically initiates with point-to-point activity, giving users the freedom to do other things and still converse while using ComPoint. With the Camera Door Station, users can now have the convenience of security monitoring added to their doorbell and intercom functions.
