Russound has licensed iPort technology for future iPod-compatible whole-house A/V systems.

05.01.2008 — Russound has licensed Dana Innovations’ iPort technology for future iPod-compatible whole-house A/V systems, after reaching an agreement with Dana Innovations, parent company of Sonance and iPort music systems.

Russound is the first company to license iPort, which encompasses docks able to accept the full range of iPods and other handheld audio players.

“In the past year alone, Russound has enjoyed a great deal of success with the iBridge Dock, which makes it easy to integrate an iPod with any multiroom A/V system,” says Charlie Porritt, Russound’s VP of sales.

“More than just a sign of a great product, we view this as an important trend that will continue to gain momentum as more consumers use their iPods as music servers rather than simple portable players.”
