I hear from many integrators in a quandary about how to add security to their repertoire.
So here's a first step: a shotgun rack that actually attaches to your clients' mattress!
I get lots of different press releases related to integrated security systems, but this one is a first. Under the heading of "home security" comes a patented new bedside shotgun rack, called The BackUp.
The BackUp provides "instant access to a popular weapon of choice for individuals concerned about home protection." The product made its U.S. debut today.
The new device fits between the mattress and box springs of most beds and provides immediate access to a shotgun. Check out the video below.
So much for keeping weapons in a locked cabinet. Also, remember not to "roll" out of bed.

According to the press release, the device was invented as a result of the increasing frequency of home invasions. It also specifically mentions two tragic events from Indianapolis and Connecticut, saying these events "foster fear and deep-felt outrage."
"The BackUp is an excellent tool for folks who have made the decision to have and use a shotgun for home protection," said A. John Peters, president for Home Back-Up Protection, LLC, a privately held, Delaware-based limited liability corporation.
"The BackUp provides a stable, level place for the weapon to rest as they rest and disappears from sight when guns are returned to secure cases, racks or vaults during the day."
"Many authorities recommend a shotgun for effective home defense and The BackUp puts that protection within an arm's reach," Peters said.
"Shotguns are often weapons of choice at home because of their deterrent effect on assailants, their close-range stopping power, their affordability and their reduced risk of injury to innocent others from stray shot. The BackUp makes them easily accessible during a time of need."
The BackUp is made in America and the adjustable 2-foot by 2-foot rack assembles in minutes.
