Press Release: Using Nokia N800, Elan N800 Combines Web Connectivity with Home Control

How would you like to control your entire home with a 7.3-ounce palm-sized Nokia N800? Now you can, with the Elan N800, which does pretty much anything an Elan VIA! touchscreen can do, and anything the Nokia Web tablet can do.

The device can be used to operate any of Elan Home Systems’ own products and those of its integration partners, making the little wireless gem a perfect controller for lights, security, temperature and entertainment systems. Two-way feedback and metadata are provided for most music and automation systems supported by Elan’s other interfaces.

And get this—the user interface can be designed to mimic the look and feel of Elan’s Ole and Via panels, so consumers need not be confused by using multiple controllers throughout the house.

(Yesterday we revealed that Elan Home Systems was making it easier for dealers to streamline the look and feel of its various user interfaces).

You also get the traditional features of the N800, such as Web browsing and streaming A/V.

Sorry, you can’t bring your own N800 to the party. Proprietary software in the ELAN N800 is not compatible with other Nokia N800 or Web tablet models purchased elsewhere.
