Anthem AVM 40, 50 Processors Offer Room Correction

Anthem's AVM 40 and 50 digital processors now offer the company's Anthem Room Correction (ARC) technology.

The room correction technology, according to Anthem, compensates for acoustical problems by automatically configuring each speaker's tonal balance.

The ARC process starts with a test signal that is sent from the AVM processor to each connected speaker. The signal is played and then picked up by a specially calibrated microphone, which is placed in various listening positions.

Each speaker is put through a full frequency sweep in order to highlight problem areas and determine necessary adjustments.

The configurations are saved, allowing users to optimize the system for multiple settings.

Anthem, which will be exhibiting at CEDIA Expo 2008 at booth 938, says the ARC technology is based on equalizer filter requirements created during the Athena Acoustic Research Project, performed by Canada’s National Research Council.

The system will be available as an add-on for any existing Anthem AVM 40 or AVM 50 processor.

Anthem also offers the technology on its D1 and D2 processors.
