S&S Electric Celebrates 60 Years of Service
Expands Company Vision
OLDSMAR, FL. May 31, 2007 -- In 1947, Sheldon Smith founded S&S Electric with $25.00 and a dream. 60 years later, S&S is a thriving third generation, family-owned and operated business that has evolved into two separate brands, S&S Electric and S&S Air Conditioning. In recognition of this celebratory occasion, S&S Electric would like to thank its customers by hosting a month-long sweepstakes, kicking off at the 2007 WWSB ABC7 Hurricane Expo.
"We are proud to be celebrating 60 years of service in Florida's Gulf Coast region," says Chris Smith, Vice President. "Our surrounding community has changed drastically over the years, but S&S has remained constant and true to my grandfather's legacy of honesty, integrity and quality workmanship."
During its infancy, S&S Electric worked in both commercial and residential ventures from apartments and condos to restaurants and a major resort hotel complex. In the mid-1970's, though, S&S found its niche in the residential construction market.
For the past 20 years, the company has been investigating ways to expand into vertical markets and offer additional products and services to its already substantial customer base. In 1994, S&S became a licensed air conditioning contractor and began offering this service as part of its growing repertoire. The expansion into Air Conditioning also gave S&S additional opportunities to provide service and replacement opportunities to existing homeowners in addition to new construction.
"When my son Shawn joined the company in 1997, he brought with him the same passion for technology that my father, Sheldon, had," said Vern Smith, President. "Under his guidance, S&S expanded its services to include integrating home technology products designed to allow homeowners to enjoy the benefits of energy efficiency, clean, healthy indoor air, multiple computers in the home all with high speed internet, and home entertainment."
Among the first in the world to receive DHTI+(digital home technology integration) certification, S&S adopts new certifications and technologies as quickly as possible to offer customers the latest and greatest innovations in home technology systems. Additionally, S&S executives continue to define their industry while serving as board members of trade organizations.
"For our 60th Anniversary, we wanted to thank both our valued customers as well as our dedicated employees," says Shawn Smith, Vice President. "without whom our success and longevity as a company would have been impossible."
To kick off the celebration, S&S hosted a family picnic April 14, 2007, where employees were treated to a day of food, family, fun and prizes.
To further commemorate the anniversary, S&S Electric would like to thank the community for supporting them for 60 years by hosting a month-long sweepstakes kicking off at the 2007 Hurricane Expo, June 2nd, 2007, from 10AM-2PM at the Sarasota/Bradenton Convention Center. One grand prize winner will receive a Home Generator-Ready Package which allows a homeowner to safely and legally connect a portable generator (winner-supplied) to their home and provide standby power in case of an electrical outage as well as a Carbon Monoxide Detector installed in the home valued at $975.00. One first prize winner will receive a GenShed, a rigid, durable shelter for a secure, lockable, weatherproof way to store and operate a portable generator for backup power valued at $729.00. Finally, 5 lucky winners will receive Carbon Monoxide (CO) Detectors with professional installation valued at $175.00.
