New Bryston DAC Offers Asynchronous USB Inputs
Bryston says it is shipping its new outboard BDA-2 DAC, and the Canadian company says the new DAC carries an MSRP of $2,395.
Following up the success of the company’s first-generation BDA-1, Bryston has introduced the BDA-2 and it explains the new-generation product incorporates a proprietary, fully discrete Class-A analog circuit, independent linear power supplies for the unit’s analog and digital circuit boards and dual 32-bit AKM DAC chips. Bryston also points out the new DAC also utilizes the Asynchronous USB standard and its own anti-jitter technologies that re-clock and re-samples the input signal to reduce timing and other digital errors.
“With more consumers relying on their computers as a source of entertainment in the home we felt it [was] imperative to offer a DAC with high-performance USB inputs,” explains James Tanner, vice president of sales and marketing, Bryston. “Additionally, the new 32-bit DAC chips deliver stunning resolution and detail. The BDA-2 was built upon the award-winning BDA-1 architecture, which emphasized isolation, low noise and imperceptibly low levels of distortion and jitter.”
The BDA-2 offers electronics professionals a solution that features USB, Coax, optical AES-EBU and BNC input options, and RCA and balanced (XLR) outputs. Bryston also says the unit is upgradeable through its RS-232 serial port, and the company adds to further support its dealers, it will continue to offer the original BDA-1 DAC as an alternative to the flagship BDA-2.
