The NAHB Research Center has selected Scott Homes of Olympia, Washington, as the 2009 EnergyValue Housing Awards (EVHA) Builder of the Year.

The EVHAs, presented in partnership with the Department of Energy (DOE), are energy efficiency awards honoring builders who voluntarily incorporate energy efficiency into all aspects of new home construction.

Scott Homes also received an EVHA Gold Award for custom homes built in cold climates. View the complete list of winners.

The award judges describe Scott Homes as “doing it all very well, but constantly looking for ways to improve. They truly understand the value of building green.”

"This award is a great privilege and I'm grateful for all the help I get from my sub contractors and suppliers that help me achieve high building standards," says Scott Bergford, owner, Scott Homes.

All Scott Homes are:
  • Five Star certified under Olympia Master Builders' Built Green program
  • Energy Star certified
  • Equipped with radiant heat
  • Built with Structural Insulated Panels (SIPs)
"From the moment new clients first visit our office, the point is driven home that we care about energy efficiency, and that we are good at achieving it," Bergford says.
