Sophisticated system design and programming utility with green features hits the market.
Lighting control manufacturer Lutron Electronics is now shipping the RadioRA 2 plug-in appliance module for control of standby power, and has released the newest version of the system’s sophisticated design and programming utility. The design and programming utility has been enhanced with several features to maximize a home’s energy efficiency, including:
The Design & Programming Utility, version 4.0 includes the Green Buttonfeature that can enact four energy-saving solutions with a single button:
Other features include advance radio Powr Savr sensor programming, homeowner level editing, shade toggle, raise/lower zone control, swappable button configurations for wall-mounted keypads, smart room viewer. Qualified dealers can download the software free of charge at resi.lutron.com/radiora2.
- It turns off standby power (vampire loads) to electronic appliances when not in use, saving up to 10 percent of a home’s electricity usage
- It installs easily: plug appliance into module, then plug module into the wall
- It can be incorporated into scenes, like Goodnight and Away, to conserve energy
- It can be controlled from a keypad, sensor, timeclock event, or mobile device
- It features Lutron's patented SoftSwitch technology for reliability
The Design & Programming Utility, version 4.0 includes the Green Buttonfeature that can enact four energy-saving solutions with a single button:
- Trim individual light levels, or scenes, when less light is sufficient
- Lower shades to reflect the sun's heat in the summer, or to create an insulating layer to keep heat in during the winter
- Turn off unneeded appliances to save energy
- Set back a thermostat to reduce heating/cooling costs (feature coming soon)
- Program multiple green buttons to customize a home’s energy-saving strategy for different times of the year, or the day.
