LG PX950 plasma televisions

LG may have solved the issues associated with the playback 3D video through its introduction of PX950 plasma televisions, which offer a THX Cinema Mode for 2D and 3D content.

LG’s PX950 line of plasma television are said to be the first 3D products to receive THX certification. The TVs are priced at $2,000 for the 50 inch model and $3,000 for the 60 inch model.

Over the past several years experts such as Joe Kane, Joel Silver and THX have taught dealers, installers and consumers the benefits of having and installing a properly calibrated video display.

Disney's recent introduction of its Worlds of Wonder calibration disc reinforces Kane, Silver and THX's position that a properly calibrated video system is a major component of a quality home theater and LG's new PX950 series of plasma television helps to fulfill this need.

The introduction of the THX certified LG PX950 plasma television takes calibration to the masses by enabling viewers to watch THX certified 2D and 3D images on TVs that measure just 2.1-inches thick. The line of products is available in a choice of either 50 inch (MSRP: $2,000) or 60 inch (MSRP: $3,000) screen sizes and the televisions had to pass more than 400 tests before achieving THX certification.

LG says the PX950 line of products are the first televisions on the market to receive THX certification for both 2D and 3D and through the touch of a button users can select the TV's THX 2D and 3D Cinema Modes to enable the TVs to produce images that match post-production standards. The TVs also include 600Hz Max Sub-Field Driving image processing, TruBlack Filters that LG says blocks external reflections of light while maximizing the TVs' internal ability to produce deeper blacks.

Other features included in the PX950 line include DLNA and NetCast networking connectivity and streaming options from content providers like Netflix, VUDU, Yahoo, Youtube and Picasa.
