Kohler Debuts High-Tech Shower

The Kohler DTV allows the creation of custom showering configurations.

Integrators have been putting A/V in the bathroom for a while now, but leave it to Kohler to actually bring technology inside the shower. The company debuted its new Kohler DTV system recently that uses a one-piece electronic interface to allow the creation of custom showering configurations.

No more fiddling with the temperature or repositioning the showerhead. I am a foot taller than my wife, so any of you who have a similar circumstance will know what I am talking about.

The Kohler DTV system has six separate user-configuration settings for temperature and showerhead positioning and water output. It eliminates the need for multiple valve handles and offers up massage, down massage, wave massage and temperature-based massage settings.

The interface, which looks like an iPod, can be mounted either inside or outside the shower is pre-programmed with six custom configurations: surround, envelop, unwind, frontage, downpour and linear. It comes in several chrome finishes.

A thermostatic valve is required as part of the system, which retails for about $2,000 (valve plus the interface).
