10.19.2007 — Remember those Craftmatic Adjustable Beds commercials that touted a free "color" TV with purchase?
K2 Mounts and MK1 Studio have taken that marriage of TV and bed and run with it.
The result: an innovative automatic flat panel lift, the Underbed Lift, and an undeniable "wow" factor.
At the
Fall 2007 Electronic House Expo (EHX), November 7–9 in Long Beach, Calif., the Underbed Lift will be formally launched by K2 Mounts. The product comes to K2 as a result of an exclusive distribution deal with manufacturer MK1 Studio.
The Underbed Lift conceals a 50-inch flat-panel with amplifiers, DVD, VCR, subwoofer, and seven channels of surround beneath a king-size bed or a 42-inch panel and all the same equipment under a queen-size bed, according to K2. Both take just 35 seconds to deploy and can be seamlessly integrated into any automation system, it adds.
The technology has to be seen to be understood. Those who attend EHX can check out a live demonstration of the product, which K2 will display in the Clarity AV booth 1824. Clarity AV's Mark Cichowski says there will likely be a queen-sized bed set up in the booth so the company can demonstrate how the TV emerges from beneath the bed and sets into watching position. He expects to use a twin mattress, however, on the queen bed so the integrator audience can see how the mechanics work under the bed.
Those who aren't attending EHX can watch a
video demonstration of the product in action on YouTube.
"We are excited to partner with MK 1 Studio," says Tony Grasso, K2 Mounts vice president of sales and marketing. "The Underbed Lift is the most innovative motorized mounting solution in the world."
"Our partnership with K2 Mounts takes our motorized mounting solutions to the next level," says Matt Cosman, MK 1 Studio president of engineering and design.
"We are now able to leverage the K2 Mounts network of CEDIA reps and dealers to increase awareness of this exciting product."
