ISE 2012 Draws 40k A/V Integrators to Amsterdam

Sponsored by Infocomm and CEDIA, Integrated Systems Europe sets new record in ‘economically challenging times.”

Integrated Systems Europe, the trade show for commercial and residential A/V dealers, had another great year in Amsterdam despite Europe’s “economically challenging times,” says marketing director Dan Goldstein in what may be the understatement of the year.

Sponsored by Infocomm and CEDIA, ISE 2012 drew more than 40,000 attendees this year, up more than 15 percent over last year. Exhibit space likewise was up more than 15% from 2011.

Goldstein told us on the second day of the show, “If we can match that growth in attendance, we would be extremely happy.”

It looks like the group is happy indeed. Bookings for 2013 were exceedingly strong during this year’s event.

Dan Goldstein: Residential integration in Europe “is still being driven by high-quality entertainment.”
Goldstein says growth has been fairly consistent across all product categories, but this year the organization added a unified communications area that “filled quickly” with exhibitors, Goldstein says.

Professional audio continues to grow as well, he says, with exhibits up about 20 percent over last year.

Although ISE added a second residential area to the show this year, the event is still skewed to the commercial. And most of the home technology featured at ISE revolves around A/V rather than automation.

Goldstein says that residential integration in Europe “is still being driven by high-quality entertainment.”

There were no home security systems on the show floor, for example, and very little in the way of smart thermostats or integration with the smart grid.

That will come, says Goldstein, but ISE is being cautious to match the growth in exhibitors with the dynamic of attendees.

ISE 2013 is being held Jan. 29 to Jan. 31 in Amsterdam.
