Honeywell Wireless Theft Sensor Is a Cool Add-on Device
Sensor is adhered to individual “valuables” in a home to detect movement.
Honeywell’s 5870API Wireless Asset Protection Sensor
If you are you looking for a unique add-on sale as part of a security offering, check out the 5870API Wireless Asset Protection Sensor from Honeywell Security.
Generally, residential security systems guard against entry into the home, but they don’t protect individual devices inside the home. This little device allows a homeowner to have his perimeter security system off (say, during a party) and just protect single, valuable individual items in the home.
The 5870API affixes to virtually any valuable requiring protection within a home, including paintings, flat screen TVs and other electronics, family heirlooms, safes, machinery, office equipment and more.
The unit is the first product from Honeywell designed to specifically address the need for theft protection on the premises while enhancing the burglary protection already in place. It lets sensors transmit signals that movement has been detected even when the panel is disarmed. This is ideal for environments where the use of a constantly armed panel is not practical.
The 5870API employs an accelerometer—similar to those used in automobiles to detect impact and deploy air bags—to recognize movement. Dealers can program the devices to send alarm signals to security panels, alerting the central station when the protected object is being moved.
The 5870API is fully supervised to monitor for low-battery, tamper (front case cover and removal from asset) and trouble conditions.
