HiFiMan Diversifies Headphone Line with In-Ear Models

HiFiMan is a company that is less than 10-years-old, but since its inception in 2007 it has been causing a stir in the growing personal audio category. In a short amount of time HiFiMan’s founder Fang Bian has developed a diverse line of headphones, headphone amps, portable music players and cabling that incorporate unique designs at price points that are attractive to an increasingly important segment of the audio market. 

At the annual Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas HiFiMan announced its new RE-400 and RE-600 in-ear headphones which further diversifies the selection of reasonably priced headphone solutions from the company.  Bian points out that with the release of the in-ear models the company can now meet the requirements of more users that want the convenience of an in-ear product.

“Though HiFiMan is best known for our full size, planar magnetic headphones [we realized] there are so many applications for portable audio [and] we wanted to offer in-ear phones that would achieve the same level of success [as the HE-6 planar magnetic headphones],” he explains. “Our team has worked very heard on the RE-400 and RE-600 [in-ear headphones] and I believe discriminating music lovers will really appreciate these new compact models which offer both excellent sound and good value. We will also add a third in-ear model this spring a a very aggressive price point.”

Some of the key features of the two new headphone products include an emphasis on ergonomics to better ensure the user’s comfort over long periods of use, as well as custom-designed, 8.5mm Neodymium drivers with titanium coatings (the driver in the RE-600 is patent pending); oxygen-free copper cables on the RE-400, and hybrid copper/silver cables on the RE-600 headphones.
