Atlona LinkConnect Plenum HDMI Cables Available in Long Lengths
Atlona’s new LinkConnect Plenum HDMI cables comply to NEC regulations, and are capable of carrying 1080p signals, as well as 1920x1200 resolutions.
Just prior to the 2012 Thanksgiving holiday the company announced that it is shipping its latest product: the LinkConnect Plenum HDMI line of cables. According to the company, the cable is designed to meet the safety and reliability demands of commercial installations in environments that include above drop ceilings and below raised floors, and the hazards of smoke inhalation in the event of a fire. Atlona points out that National Electrical Code (NEC) specifies the use of plenum-certified cables in these spaces that can withstand high temperatures without emitting significant fumes. To meet this requirement the company adds it employs a CMP-certified Kynar jacket that is capable of withstanding temperatures up to 125 degrees Celsius.
“Atlona was the first company to manufacture plenum HDMI cables and with our latest LinkConnect offering, we’ve again raised the bar on safety and performance,” says Ilya Khayn, president and CEO, Atlona. “Many other HDMI cables that claim to be for plenum spaces are Teflon based and are only certified to 75 degrees Celsius, which most American certification labs say will not meet UL CMP certification. In addition, their thinner 26AWG copper conductors can’t handle the high demands of high resolution computer sources. Due to their location, plenum cables are expensive to replace, so you want to ensure the highest quality the first time ... that can only be found with LinkConnect.”
The California company says the 24AWG cables are available in lengths of 25 feet, 35 feet, 50 feet and 75 feet. Atlona says the 50 foot and 75 foot lengths utilize active technologies to ensure reliable signal transmission. The cable feature a bandwidth of 4.95Gbps to support computer resolutions as high as 1920x1200, and A/V formats such as 1080p and 3D video, and the Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio lossless surround sound formats.
