08.27.2008 — HAI is adding to its line of portable home automation controls with the OmniTouch 8P and OmniTouch 10P touchscreens.

The 8P and 10P have 8- and 10-inch TFT Active Matrix LCD screens, respectively, and feature built-in Wi-Fi.

Both models, which will be displayed at CEDIA Expo 2008 (booth 868), have plug-and-play interfaces for any of HAI's Ethernet-enabled controllers, except Omni LT.

They offer control of lights, small appliances, security, temperatures, pools, ventilation, whole-home audio systems and more.

The 8P has one USB port, while the 10P includes two.

The touchscreens also include:
  • Built-in speakers and microphone with 16-bit audio
  • Customizable graphics
  • Foreign language support
  • A built-in intercom
  • Support of IP cameras
  • Internet access for RSS feeds
Both models are available in black and have an optional charging dock that includes a USB and an Ethernet port.

HAI, which recently developed a developer support program, didn't release pricing. The company expects to ship the OmniTouch 8P and OmniTouch 10P in Q4 2008.

HAI has really stepped their game up with this new screen.  They say it will also manage one’s media in the home.  That’s huge for them.
