06.01.2009 — Home Automation Inc. (HAI) is shipping a new suite of IP-based products, including the OmniTouch 10p Touchscreen, Automation Studio design software and the Home Theater Extender (HTX).

The OmniTouch 10p has a 10.4-inch touchscreen and built-in Wi-Fi to control lights, temperature, security, audio/video, etc.

Other features:
  • Internet browsing
  • View supported IP cameras
  • Built-in stand
  • An optional docking cradle
It also comes with 4 programmable hard buttons, Windows XP, RS-232 serial port, two USB drives, one SD slot and VGA out. The OmniTouch 10p can either be used with the company's new interface design or fully customized.

Adding IR capability to the new OmniTouch Portable and future touchscreens, the HAI HTX has more than 300,000 built-in IR codes and a built-in IR receiver that can learn more codes. It also includes:
  • A bi-directional RS232 serial port
  • Two Relay ports to control devices that require a contact closure
  • Four IR Emitters that use standard 3.5mm IR blaster-type connectors
HAI says the HTX allows homeowners "to press one button to turn on the A/V components, play a DVD, close window coverings, and set the entire house to desired temperature and lighting levels for an enjoyable entertainment experience."

The Automation Studio design software allows installers to customize the company's touchscreens by adding floor plans, custom images and foreign language support. The software enables viewing of supported IP cameras and control of A/V components from an HAI touchscreen.

HAI also introduced the HAI Camera Server, which will ship in July 2009. The server converts up to 4 analog surveillance camera signals to IP video streams, allowing the cameras to be viewed on the Web, the OmniTouch 10p or any Web-enabled mobile device.
