I have heard some manufacturers are not showing up. Anyone have a clue who has backed out?
Hadn’t heard that, Jeremy ... do tell.
Julie, I was told by a Klipsch person they backed out. I have heard many other roumers that people are backing out and have had many dealers state cut backs. as a cedia board dude this bumes me out. This is a great education opportunity and one of the last places to cut.
Klipsch still shows up on the exhibitor list. I haven’t heard of pull-outs.
Julie-your the hot chick to get on the horn and do some investigating. I think many would like a sample of dealers and manufacturers; lets find out who are not attending or backed out vs last year. I am fielding calls from dealers asking “is it ok if we don’t go this year?” I feel bad for them and want all dealers to know that not showing up because times are tough won’t kill you, focus on cash flow and systems to improve what you have. I am dedicated to education and will focus on that as opposed to
“shoving new stuff down your throat”. However, I know many dealers are not going or only sending one dude and with what some may view as a once very large retail box speaker company like klipsch backing out as a sign of just how bad things are, it makes me worry about the state of our industry. Can you think of a way to figure out the market attendance before the show?
Yes, I’m sure I could get the complete low-down, but as a board member, you’re better positioned to do so. What real value would it have? I mean, I have important things to do, like write reviews of screen cleaners, and create slide shows of tattoo’d industry folks.
If it’s a state-of-the-industry you’re after, Jason Knott has a story slated to run on that very subject on Monday.
