Future Technology Pavilion Highlights Digital Home Health
There was plenty of interesting technology on hand at the CEDIA Expo Future Technology Pavilion; GrandCare's Laura Mitchell provided a tour of connected home healthcare.
The Future Technology Pavilion at CEDIA Expo 2011 showcased tons of cool technology: 244-inch screen wall, wireless power stations, underbed TV lift, dimmable windows, electric car charging station, etc.
One of the technologies we've been forecasting for years as a huge opportunity is connected or digital home healthcare.
The so-called "Silver Tsunami" is going to hit hard over the coming decade, and prepared CE pros can be at the forefront of helping out caregivers, nursing homes and relatives who will bear the burden of caring for a massive aging population.
So as part of the Future Tech Pavilion, GrandCare Systems was being shown in the bedroom vignette. The company's Laura Mitchell provided an explanation of the myriad ways GrandCare's solution, for one, can assist offering quality of life to those in need of care but want to be in the comforts of home.
The solution also provides for aspects such as medication monitoring, and making sure users are always accounted for and staying on certain routines. Sensors such as the bed pad pictured help keeping tabs.
