Evolve Brings Home Automation, Usable Alarm Clocks to Hotels
Android-based Evolve AI helps guests control hotel environment including lights, thermostat, music, concierge service and other amenities.
The product will be on display in the Z-Wave pavilion at CES 2013.
Evolve already had been gaining traction in hospitality with its rather inelegant keypad controllers, but the new touchscreen makes it simple for technophobic guests to accomplish traditionally impossible hotel tasks – like adjusting the temperature.
Walk through the interactive demo: You tell me.
It is one of those eternal questions: Why is it so impossible to set the alarm in a hotel room? Evolve AI answers that with an intuitive alarm-clock interface that makes it simple to select the wake-up time, snooze intervals and even the alarm sound.
Built-in Z-Wave technology allows guests to control the lights, thermostats, motorized shades or any other amenities the hotel wishes to provide.
Speaking of amenities, the system lets guests book room service, summon valet-parked cars, reserve tee times and perform other tasks without having to talk to unnaturally pleasant hosts.
With the help of a built-in Wi-Fi connection, the Evolve AI can display headline news, local events, weather and other online information. Streaming audio is provided through AddictedToRadio.com.
The unit also features an iOS port for charging devices and streaming audio through its built-in 2W speakers.
Evolve has a back-end engine called EvolveNet for tying into various hotel systems, and the company can tailor content to suit the hotel’s need – like messaging groups (think trade show attendees) or serving up ads.
The company says that the DoubleTree by Hilton in Bristol, Conn., is installing the AI tablet in its suites.
