Elite Screens/AirFlex Simplify Passive, Dual Projector 3D Theaters
The Airflex5D 5S from Elite Screens is a projector stacking solution that facilitates the use of multiple projectors to form a passive 3D system. The Airflex system is compatible with resolutions up to 1920 x1200, and Elite says that it forms a more cost effective solution than expensive solutions from other manufacturers.
Elite Screens is a Calif.-based electronics manufacturer and it is working with the company Airflex5D to provide electronics professionals with the Airflex5D 5S projector stacking system that Elite says aligns the images of multiple projectors vertically and horizontally to form a single, passive 3D image. The stacking system works with linear and circular 3D technologies and according to Elite, the system is compatible with projectors that produce resolutions as high as 1920 x 1200.
The advantages of this system Elite explains is that a stacked 3D system enables electronics professionals to maintain picture brightness which is a key element of a quality 3D images and it allows for the use of passive 3D glasses which are less expensive and generally more comfortable because of their lighter weight.
In addition, Elite points out the Airflex5D 5S projector stacking solution also incorporates dual-channel geometric image correction which can be used with curved screens and applications such as 3D simulation systems. Other processing incorporated into the system include deinterlacing, scaling and image enhancement to support its use in commercial systems that utilize components that don’t complement 3D images.
