SEATTLE, Wash. — The EDGE Distributors Group — a rapidly growing service-oriented group of 13 independently owned regional distributors catering primarily to custom install and residential systems integrators — is slated to launch a dealer certification training program that begins [in] early 2009.

According to The EDGE Distributors Group Director Katye McGregor, equipping dealers with a full understanding of today's emerging technologies is a key initiative for the group. EDGE's focus is to enable dealers to benefit from selling homeowners a broader range of services.

McGregor says, "The goal of the certification training program is to ensure that dealers have everything they need to 'spec in' the many new technologies available today and to springboard them to expert level in as short a time as reasonable."

The first EDGE dealer certification program on tap is with Cooper Wiring Devices, manufacturer of the Aspire RFT wireless lighting control system which operates on Z-Wave technology.

Jason Sherrill, Aspire RF Product Manager says, "The EDGE / Aspire RF certification program is more a technology training than a sales training. The program is focused on helping dealers get their arms around Z-Wave technology, how to work with electrical contractors and more."

"The end result for attendees will be successful installations, more profitable sales, and ultimately very satisfied homeowners," furthered McGregor.

The EDGE / Aspire RF certification training program is slated to begin early 2009. Additional technology certification programs will be available from The EDGE Group throughout the year and are expected to be announced in early 2009.
