Deborah Smith, former executive director at PARA and vice president at Tweeter, will be heading up CE Pro LIVE!, an online training event.

CE Pro announced today that Deborah Smith of the Deborah Smith Group has been retained to support the creation of CE Pro LIVE!, an online learning event for custom electronics professionals. Smith will serve as program director for CE Pro LIVE!, which will be held online May 11-12, 2010.

The inaugural CE Pro LIVE! will feature 15+ conference sessions set in a live and on-demand video environment. In addition, attendees can browse and interact with manufacturers and distributors in a live virtual exhibit hall. Dealers can view products, watch training videos, access other content rich materials, and interact via live chat with exhibitors, the CE Pro editorial staff, and each other.

“I'm delighted that Deborah will be serving as the program director for the CE market’s first true virtual industry event. CE Pro is the leading voice to the market, so it’s logical that it brings this dynamic new medium to dealers and manufacturers,” says Jim Wagner, general manager of EH Events. "Deborah’s experience, creative ideas, and enthusiasm for this new platform will ensure that we achieve our goals to create the largest, most engaging, and dynamic virtual event in this industry.”

25 Years and Counting...
Smith brings more 25 years of experience to CE Pro LIVE!. Prior to her role as founder and president of The Deborah Smith Group, she served as executive director of PARA (Professional AudioVideo Retailers Association) and vice president at Tweeter. She has written numerous business articles and is a frequent contributor to major trade publications in the customer electronics industry. Smith is also a recipient of the TWICE Lifetime Achievement Award for excellence and achievement in the consumer electronics industry.

“We have set the bar high to deliver a full roster of meaningful, relevant business and product education to help dealers grow sales and profits in 2010, without travel costs or taking time away from their business,” says Smith. “CE Pro editors Jason Knott and Julie Jacobson and other industry experts will present featured dealer sessions and be available during the event for live chats in the Virtual Networking Lounge.”

Smith continues, “The virtual event platform is new, exciting, and easy for dealers to browse the exhibit floor, engage with manufacturers, and get the business knowledge they need to survive and thrive for years to come. For manufacturers, the virtual meeting format offers an exciting and very cost effective way to showcase their products and engage with new and existing customers.”

Is She the same lady who was the editor of CEPro Showroom Magazine? By the way, what ever happened to that magazine?

Harvey, PARA, Tweeter… Can’t imagine why all 3 are gone with such expertise at their disposal. shut eye

Dave—The common factor for each of those three is that their demise occurred long, long after Deborah’s tenure. They needed her more than they knew!

Jason,
I’ve always respected what you have written & posted in the past. However, I’ll be more than happy to send you the private e-mails I’ve received this morning from other industry leaders that told me I was way too polite in my original comment. I wish her only the best of luck in this venture, but I’d rather seek advice from a Best Buy salesman.
