The CEN-WAP-ABG-CM Wireless Access Point (WAP) from Crestron is now shipping, according to the company.

The WAP features:
  • 802.11a/b/g
  • LAN wiring power
  • 360 degree coverage
  • low profile ceiling installation
  • enterprise level security and management capabilities
To connect devices to the network, no configuration is needed, the company says. It only requires entering the information from the touchpanel, and the connection happens.

The unit mounts using a 1-gang plaster ring or wall box.

So Crestron is now in the smoke detector business? And what if more configuration is needed to make this work with an existing network? What if I need 20 units with only 3 wireless channels to use? What if I need to use a WAP where I don’t have a CAT5/6? What if I want to manage these remotely?
