Crestron Addresses Digital Technologies Through Certification Program
Crestron's DigitalMedia certification educational program provides CE pros with a standard set of specifications to implement digital technologies.
Crestron’s HD-DTDS program provides installers with training and a road map that’s designed to enable installers to offer their clients a reliable, digital media system.
Crestron has introduced its new HD Digital Transport and Distribution System Specification (HD-DTDS) and DigitalMedia Certification (DMC) program.
In developing the program, the company says digital technologies have transformed the way people live, learn and work, and its Crestron DigitalMedia program was designed to meet the challenges presented to electronics professionals that are designing and implementing these technologies in the field.
Creston states its HD-DTDS certification is a comprehensive set of guidelines that defines the critical aspects of system design and installation that must be followed to assure reliable system performance. With the program Crestron is providing a set of design, installation and performance parameters to enable CE pros to reliably install digital AV systems.
Included within the program are two levels of DMC certification:
The company adds that dealers with a DMC-E on staff will be qualified to bid on projects designed using the HD-DTDS.
“As an industry, we have a responsibility to the client. Crestron has invested tremendous resources – time and expense – to develop the technology and products to meet the new challenges of the digital era,” explains Randy Klein, Crestron executive vice president. “Now we need to educate and certify our industry partners to make sure that these digital systems perform to the highest standards, so clients have the confidence to rely on all of us to deliver reliable solutions.”

Included within the program are two levels of DMC certification:
- The DMC-D track is a free one-day course that concludes with an exam that must be passed to earn certification and it is the prerequisite for DMC-E.
- The more advanced DMC-E continues for two more days by building upon the DMC-D class. The three-day program details every aspect of system installation and commissioning. DM-certified engineers are required to demonstrate proficiency in system setup, diagnostics, testing and reporting. Only a DMC-E is equipped to fully execute and support a DM project.
