Cheap HDTV Prices Here for the Holidays, Analysts Predict
47-inch LCDs predicted to be $800; 42-inch plasmas will be $500.
Flat panel TV prices will be plunging this holiday season, according to consumer electronics industry analysts.
According to iSupply analyst Riddhi Patel (as quoted in the Los Angeles Times), 47-inch LCDs will sell from $800, 42-inch plasmas will be $500 and 32-inch LCDs will be $400. Price of 64-inch rear-projection DLPs will go for under $1,000, he expects.
“It's a buyer's market,” says analyst Richard Doherty of Envisioneering Group, according to the report.
Many of the deals will carry on long after Black Friday and be available throughout the holiday season, the story suggests, and will focus on off-brand names, including Vizio.
PriceSCAN recently reported a six percent drop in the price index of 50-inch LCDs and four percent for 46-inch LCDs.
This could be a silver lining for integrators who ramp up “hang-and-bang” mounting/connection services for their companies.
