CEA Mark of Excellence Awards Honor Michael Pope

In a small but lively ceremony at CES 2013, the CEA announced the winners for the 2013 Mark of Excellence Systems Integrator Awards.

CEA’s Mark of Excellence System Integrator Awards program recognizes the most innovative home technology custom installation projects and designs. Submissions are reviewed by a panel of industry experts across more than 14 categories ranging from security, energy management, tele-wellness and home theater.

Pope began in the custom installation industry 30 years ago as an owner of a residential and commercial security business.  That business sold in 1987 to a large national security chain.  He formed Securitec Inc. in 1990 as a residential custom Integration business integrating security, custom audio/video, and automation solutions.  In 1999, Pope expanded by purchasing Audio Video Interiors, a local custom audio/video installation business and began marketing as Audio Video Interiors, a division of Securitec Inc.  In 2003, Securitec formally changed its corporate identity to become Audio Video Interiors Inc. and the security business unit formally incorporated as Safety Technologies Inc.

Pope has participated on numerous industry boards. He is a past member on the Board of Directors for the Ohio Electronic Life Safety & Security Association and CEA TechHome Board of Directors. He currently chairs the Audio Video Retailer division for CEA.  Pope is a CEDIA Designer Level I and is a THX Certified Home Theater Technician.

In accepting the award, Pope humbly said it was not an individual award, but a company award that he proudly accepts on behalf of his entire team.
