Bose Will Cut 1,000 Jobs
Company cites global recession for slicing 10% of its workforce.
Bose Corp. will reduce its workforce by 1,000 people, or about 10 percent of its staff, according to reports.
The Framingham, Mass.-based company is known for its Wave radios and noise-canceling headphones but also has made strides in the custom installation space and direct-to-builder market.
The company says in a statement that the layoffs will come from “select areas, including manufacturing,” according to the Boston Herald.
Bose says the restructuring is “in response to the decline of the global economy and its impact on consumer spending.”

We have been staffed for a growing economy, not a global recession. As a global company, we are responding to these challenges. Our corporate headquarters is in Massachusetts, and the Massachusetts workforce is impacted; however, we will not be disclosing other details, including specifics on the facilities or regions affected.

What a shock!!! Since Bose never disclosed any specifications, (outside of dimensions and finishes available), for any of their products, why would we expect them now to disclose any “details or specifics” regarding their facilities or regions effected? Quite frankly, they could lay off another 10,000 workers and it would still have no effect of their product quality. They figured out 30 years ago how to utilize only 3 different paper drivers,(3.25”, 4”, and 5.5”), in every product they sell. BOSE… Box Only Sound Extra- “No highs no lows, we’re Bose.” For consiparcy theorists, Amar has been held in Gitmo for running a terrorist cell in MA… As soon as Obama let’s him go, we’ll finally see a 2009 version of 901’s. We can only hope that he too did not blow up when he was directly plugged into an AC outlet.
