Doesn’t matter.  According to HD DVD supporters BD players need to $99 to be a hit.

Of course I am joking.  Blu-ray is just following a natural price curve and this is good news for the format.  We will hit $199 by next year and maybe $99 (no name player) within 18 months

Now if content providers would not gouge especially on catalog titles.

$149 or less and I’ll look into it.

Great news. I’m buying a 550 to replace my 300. And to think I paid $1,000 for my Laserdisc player. These are the good times for HT enthusiasts!

wouldn’t surprise me.  I work at a certain big retailer and the employee price for the S350s are right at around 300.  This is the first player sony has made any money off of.  So if they so choose to go back to a position of breaking even on every player in exchange for solidifying blu-ray’s foothold I guess they could.  I probably would. HD digital distribution is developing at a fast and furious pace, and sony needs to do whatever they can to get blu-ray in people’s homes.

I am just happy to wait for blue-ray to lower
its price much further before get one. Frankly,
$300 for a player is still too expensive compared
with PS3.
