Another CEDIA Secret: Wireless NuVo Controller?
The handheld device looks like NuVo's in-wall Control Pads, with the addition of a "Zone" button
image

08.26.2008 — An interesting handheld controller appeared recently in a graphic showing NuVo's powerline-based Renovia audio system.

It looks very much like NuVo's in-wall Control Pad touchpad, sans wires.

NuVo says to wait until CEDIA Expo to learn more about the unit.

My guess is that it can be used just like the Control Pads to browse music collections and select sources.

But wait. One thing the wireless controller has that its in-wall counterpart does not: a "Zone" button. Makes sense. If a Control Pad is built into a wall, you pretty much know what zone you're in. If you're carrying around a little wireless controller, you'll have to select your zone.

It seems like this new wireless controller will make NuVo's forthcoming Renovia powerline-based multiroom audio system a little more retrofittable.

Check out more CEDIA Secrets.
