It's time to get smart about Smart Energy. Green is the new black. And the CE industry is eager to wear that new shade of success.

A recent CE Pro survey revealed 87 percent of respondents will offer alternative energy products within the next three years. And almost half plan to offer these products, such as energy dashboards, solar/photovoltaic panels, and wind turbines, in the next 12 months.

It is not a matter of if, but when, Smart Energy will become one of the most in-demand markets. An overwhelming 82 percent of participants revealed these technologies will be significant to their business in the next two years.

To help you get ready, a Smart Energy track is featured at EHX Spring 2010, March 25-27 in Orlando, Florida. A lineup of industry experts will review the most promising technologies while detailing the business models and profit margins dealers could expect to achieve.
  • Learn how to make sense of LEED and other standards for green building
  • Decide whether to partner up for solar/wind power or go at it alone
  • Find new ways to sell green to consumers and builders
  • Discover how to use technology to save energy
  • Explore the role of utilities and the Smart Grid
Smart Energy is still emerging — only 47 percent of those surveyed currently offer these products — so it's OK to have questions. That's what EHX is here for.

Here are three ways to learn about Smart Energy at EHX Spring 2010.

CE Pro Super Session: Go Beyond the Hype and Find the Real Opportunities in the New Energy Economy

Dealer-to-Dealer Panel: Opportunities and Pitfalls of Selling Green to Consumers

Hear from experienced integrators as they share their firsthand knowledge of successes and failures. Then get your own questions answered during the Office Hours Q&A, located at the CE Pro stage at the heart of the Expo Floor.

CEDIA University: Getting Into Green: Understanding USGBC's LEED and Getting Into Green: Understanding NAHB's Green Building Program

These one-hour courses will cover the intricacies of the LEED certification program as well as the point system for a resident obtaining a Green Building certification.

Then be sure to stop by the Smart Energy Pavilion on the Expo Floor. See, touch and learn about the latest technologies for energy creation, monitoring. This is the place to see how dealers are tapping into the growth opportunities being created by the new green economy.

Get involved in Smart Energy early to reap the biggest rewards. You could wait for the 87 percent of CE Pros to do it first, but that wouldn't be very smart, would it?
