WyreStorm CEO Clarifies HDBaseT Amp, Demos Modular 8x8 HDBaseT Switch
ISE 2013 Video: WyreStorm CEO Derek Hulbert explains just why the new AMP-001-010 HDBaseT D Class Digital Audio Amplifier is indeed unique in the industry.
Since WyreStorm introduce its AMP-001-010 HDBaseT D Class Digital Audio Amplifier this year, there has been a lot of confusion about the product, and some smack talk to boot – of the nature of “they’re not the first!”
At ISE 2013, WyreStorm CEO Derek Hulbert explains why it is in fact a unique product. He says the transmitter is unusually flexible in that it can broadcast HDBaseT point-to-point and also supply 2.1 digital amplification.
“It works equally well as a basic extender, but there’s also high-quality audio,” Hulbert says.
Furthermore, he says, it can serve as a repeater “so you can go another 230 feet … and another 200 feet … and another ….”

As for the amplification portion of the unit, “Audio has never been that easy to manage,” Hulbert says. “You have break-out boxes and extra power, for example.”
Furthermore, the unit is only $700, which is not much more than many high-performance HDBaseT extenders, “and you can eliminate a receiver,” says Hulbert.
He adds that, although Wyrestorm is based in the United States, the company has gained considerable traction in the European market because “we were one of the first to introduce HDBaseT there.”
In this video demonstration at ISE 2013, Hulbert provides additional technical details of the product, and also shows off the new modular 8x8 matrix switcher than can be configured with any I/Os the customer demands.
“We’re trying to make the matrix more than just an accessory.”
