The residential and commercial accounts are unique because they were sold at retail branch locations.
06.23.2008 — Not many security systems are sold out of retail locations, but old-time alarm system provider National Guardian has been doing it for years.
Not any more.
Naperville, Ill.-based Stanley Convergent Security Solutions (Stanley CSS), formerly HSM Electronic Protection Services, has purchased the retail branch business from National Guardian Security Services, based in Norwalk, Conn.
The purchase includes both commercial and residential accounts across the U.S. with strong concentration in California, Missouri and Kansas.
Terms of the sale were not disclosed.
Brett Bontrager, president of Stanley CSS, says the acquisition continues the company's commitment to grow its domestic security platform.
"We are excited to add more density to our customer base in several local markets across the country," explains Tony Byerly, chief operating officer of Stanley CSS.
"The addition of National Guardian's retail branch business, with approximately 3,500 new accounts, creates additional efficiencies for our existing operations in those markets,"
It was not stated whether Stanley would keep open the retail locations. Industry veteran George Flagg is the CEO of National Guardian.
