Press Release: Spectrum To Distribute HDMI Products Via Capitol Sales

10.28.2009
Previously concentrating on being an OEM supplier, Spectrum Electronic Solutions in Ormand Beach, Fla., is expanding its market presence by making its HDMI and HD-branded switching solutions more available for the custom installation community. The company’s first step in this new strategy was signing a deal with Capitol Sales to distribute its products.

Spectrum has been in business since 2002 working as an OEM, a private label supplier and under its own brand name, selling through reps. The Spectrum-branded products are the line that is now being sold at Capitol Sales.

Sandra Price, vice president and general manager, was manning a portion of the Capitol Sales booth during the CEDIA Expo to support the announcement. Price says there is little to no overlap in Spectrum’s offering to the market and the products it supplies on an OEM basis. The company has worked in the past with Parasound, Marantz, ADA, Honeywell, Ethereal and others.

Among the full line of products are:
  • A continuity tester designed to test long-run HDMI.
  • An HDMI Diagnostic Plus tool designed to check the signal integrity between the source and the display or the receiver. The tool is easy to use. It has four LEDs on it. If the LEDS don’t light up, then everything is OK. Each LED represents a portion of the HDMI signal, offering a quick troubleshooting guide. The company also offers a device for testing satellite and cable signal strength.
  • A line Digital Signal Restorers for HDMI.
  • A line of baluns for Cat 5 to HDMI.
  • A line of distribution amplifiers.

According to Price, Spectrum has invested heavily in time and training to create “products that work in the field.” She mentioned that integrators are tired of unreliable HDMI and HD distribution products. Spectrum works out of the same offices as Invisions Technologies and DPL Laboratories.
