SpeakerCraft is entering the A/V receiver market with the SCR710 and SCR910 receivers, both of which will be shown at CEDIA Expo 2009 (booth 2418).

The SCR710, designed for dealers "trying to do more with less," is an 80-watt stereo receiver that includes a high-current output stage that can drive low impedance loads.

The SCR910 is a full-featured 7.1 channel receiver that includes:
  • 130-watt per channel power rating
  • A/V switching and upconverting functions
  • Numerous surround-sound modes
"Many of our dealers have expressed a desire to be able to support us in additional categories, and this was a a perfect opportunity to expand our offering and allow them to do just that," says SpeakerCraft president Jeremy Burkhardt. "The closer we come to being a complete solution provider the better we can service our dealer base."

SpeakerCraft, which is going to CEDIA Expo 2009 with the "largest product introduction ever," will ship the SCR710 and SCR910 in the fourth quarter.

MSRP: SCR710 ($425); SCR910 ($1,250)

Very interesting. Could be something we’ve been looking for. The options aren’t that great and some of the popular options are sold everywhere. I’m interested to see these at the show. We’re trying to cut down the lines and distribution products where we can and this might be another item we can do this with….

Where are all the licensing logos on the front panel, THX, Ultra 7, DTS, PCP, ADHD, Odd-2-SEE, Do-Ra-Me? How are these guys going to sell anything without these important brands tatooed on the front?  Are equipment tatoos passe’?  Oh No!

Could you have any wider of a price gap? Not much that seperates receivers these days what could justify the $825 price difference?  Speakercraft dealers like to sell on price so I don’t see the high end model selling very well.  A modle in the middle would at least bring up the ASP.

Gary the lower priced unit doesn’t have all the surround sound DSP, high end video card for video processing and is simply designed to be a high current receiver for multi room sound. For those low end projects that might just be volume controls and speakers driven by a dedicated receiver, which should be high current.

The higher price unit might be a higher retail price point but I’d use it instead of Denon, Yamaha or Marantz. I don’t get any return from selling those other than my client being about to see pricing on these products being killed by online box houses.

Also you know Jeremy. If the dealers tell him they WANT and will SELL a mid priced unit he’ll get one into the pipeline.

Just wanted to let everyone here know that the post above by ‘Matt Good’ was not made from the Matt Good who works for Denon Electronics.  Thank you.

You have to give Speakercraft credit for working on new products and ideas to help their dealers survive and thrive. It is a way better attitude than hide your head in the sand and say that it is the economy and accept failure
