The $1,400 NSX-46GT1 LED HDTV from Sony incorporates Google TV to allow users to stream Web content, surf the Internet and in 2011 download Android apps.
For the past few years the consumer electronics industry has been merging the Internet with traditional products like televisions and disc players with the goal of delivering a full multimedia experience to consumers and now with the roll out of Sony's new Powered by Google TV line of products the process could be considered complete.
Sony's Google TV line of products includes five televisions and one Blu-ray disc player that incorporate Google's living room technologies. Highlighting these half dozen products is the $1,400 NSX-46GT1 46-inch television that includes features like Sony's Dual View mode that allows consumers to search for content from their television programming and the Internet, download apps from the Android market and the ability watch full 1080p high-definition television.
The fully LED backlit television provides users with the ability to bookmark their favorite content, and it includes Sony's streaming Video on Demand powered by Qriocity; pre-installed apps from CNBC, Napster, the NBA, Netflix, Pandora, Twitter and Youtube.
The NSX-46GT1 can be retrofitted into an existing home network through its Wi-Fi and its functions can be accessed from a hand-held RF QWERTY keypad remote control that incorporates a built-in optical mouse.
