11.25.2008 — Sherwood America is shipping its first Blu-ray player — the
BDP-5003.
The Profile 1.1 (Bonus View) BDP-5003,
introduced at CEDIA Expo 2008, supports 1080p playback at 60 Hz or 24 Hz, as well as lossless audio from both Dolby and DTS through its HDMI output.
The BDP-5003 also features:
- 1080p upscaling of DVDs
- Front-panel USB port
- Composite, S-video, component and HDMI 1.3 outputs
- Decoding of all authorized Blu-ray surround formats
- Playback of DivX, JPEG and MP3 files
- Coaxial and Toslink digital audio outputs
- An Ethernet port for firmware upgrades and 192kHz/24-bit audio DACs
Sherwood says the "entry-level" Blu-ray player is aimed at "consumers that are looking to step up to high-definition discs but have been waiting for an affordable solution."
Sherwood says the BDP-5003 is available at stores nationwide.
